Q: The Data Logger loses date and time when power is disconnected
A: If the battery on the Main board is empty or the battery holder contacts are corroded or worn, date and time is lost.
If the clock-battery is empty during (re)boot and, the Data Logger keeps rebooting in a “loop” or the current date will be set to the year of the installed firmware version. (Or 1975 if the firmware version cannot be obtained).
First, measure the battery voltage on the battery holder contacts with a volt meter. It should read 3V. If lower, replace the battery. When the problem persists, remove the battery. It is hooked under the small positive pole contacts) and clean all the contacts carefully.
T: ML-417: Check the “ML-417 User manual” Chapter 1.1 “models and editions” for the Main board lay-out to find the RTC clock battery location (13). The picture shows the contacts to check with a voltmeter. Battery type is CR1632.

T: ML-525: Check the “ML-525 User manual” Chapter 2 “Board layout” for the Main board lay-out to find the RTC clock battery location (17).
The picture shows the contacts to check with a voltmeter. Battery type is CR1220
