From firmware version V5.4B1, a digital input port can be used to force the data logger into pause mode.
This can be useful when a looped wire is added to the sensor wiring and connected to the digital input. When uncoupling the sensor connectors from the main board, the data logger goes automatically into pause mode, stopping modem activity and saving batteries.
Note: The usage of a hardware wired pause/resume function on a digital port is mutual exclusive with the menu driven pause/resume function.
If the hardware option is not used, the menu option is active in the Main menu.
Note: When the data logger is in “Pause” mode, it will remain after a reboot
Screen after reboot (Data logger will remain in “Pause” mode).

Hardware driven Pause /Resume
Hardware setup.
On X3, a free digital input port and ground are used. Connect a looped wire and tie the looped end onto the sensor (power and /or data) wiring. When the sensor is detached from the data logger, the X3 connector must also be unplugged (because of the looped wire).

Port setup
From the setup menu, choose digital pots and select a free port, matching the looped wire.

Choose “[5]”, the Pause/Resume option.

The easiest setup is a loop wire connected to a free digital input and the ground on X4, an internal pull-up has to be used on the port.

Save and test the configuration. The number of pause triggers can be read and reset in the port menu or “Actual values” from the main menu.
